MindMint invites you to 3MT and Famelab 2020 Competitions

Starting this year, MindMint will be part of Gopher. MindMint is a platform for research communication and content sharing. We intend to further develop its potential by providing the opportunity to PhD students (both from within and outside of the University of Groningen) to reach a multidisciplinary, multinational audience with their ongoing work! Nowadays, your research output is no longer just measured in h-indices and publications - knowledge utilization, societal relevance & impact, and effectively communicating your research with non-experts is becoming increasingly more important for becoming a successful scholar.

MindMint aims to help you reach a broad audience - beyond fellow academics - that may be interested in, and learn from, your research. We welcome opportunities to collaborate with other science communication platforms, because we believe that through cooperation we will be able to reach a larger, more diverse audience, eventually leading to a more widespread dissemination of our valuable findings. Do not hesitate to contact us if you would be interested in working together with MindMint!

Our first big event (or, actually events!) consists of a wonderful opportunity to display your research in a fun, challenging, and exciting format: The 3MinuteThesis (3MT) Competition and FameLab. In both events, participants will have 3 minutes to present their entire PhD project to a non-expert audience. Both events are organized by the University of Groningen, and have slightly different set-ups:

  • For 3MT, PhD students from all faculties are eligible for participation, and may use one PowerPoint slide to support their story.

  • For FameLab, PhD students from the faculties of Medical Sciences and Science and Engineering are eligible for participation, and they may not rely on the use of any slides or the like - it is just them and their story!

If you are interested in attending either of these events, tickets are now available!

On March 5, from 8 to 10.30pm, the FameLab Finals will take place at Het Kasteel. Get your (free) ticket via https://fd13.formdesk.com/rug/kopie_van_form152

On March 11, the 3MT Finals will take place at the new Groningen Forum. Get your (free) ticket via https://www.rug.nl/education/phd-programmes/media/3mt/get-your-tickets-3mt-competition
