Beach & Lake Summer Escape
Take a break from research and join fellow PhD students for a relaxing day at Meerwijckstrand (beach) and the Zuidlaardermeer (lake). We’ll begin our morning at the beach with a wellness session, followed by games, sports and time to unwind by the water. In the afternoon, we’ll board a boat for a scenic cruise across Zuidlaardermeer, where we’ll learn a bit about the lake and its surrounding landscape while enjoying snacks, drinks, and great company. Whether you’re looking to recharge, meet new people, or simply enjoy a summer day outdoors, this event is the perfect opportunity to connect beyond the lab and classroom.
Come for the fresh air, stay for the sunset, conversation, and a memorable day on the lake!
*Drinks and snacks: GOPHER will provide Drinks and Snacks. However, you are free to bring lunch or any other snacks or drinks that you want. At the boat it is also possible to purchase more drinks (tea, coffee, beers, sodas, water).
*Transportation: We will take an Arriva train from Groningen Train Station to Kropswolde Train Station at 11:18am, so we will need you to be at the Station at 11:00am. From Kropswolde we will be picked up by cars which will take us directly to the beach. The trip back to Groningen will follow the same logic, and we will depart around 5pm from the beach.
