Join us for a Waacking workshop with the collaboration of Nikos! 

Waacking (or Whacking) is a club-style dance that was born out of Punking. Punking was created as an expression of oppression by the queer men of color of LA in the 1970’s, who were struggling to express themselves. The word “Punk” was a derogatory term for gay men and so the original Punkers wanted to shift the meaning of the word and give it a positive glow.

The popular TV show soultrain featuring Tyrone Proctor brought whacking to the public eye and exposed multiple dancers to it. Catching the beat, posing, theatricality and grooving to the music are some of the original elements that Punking & Waacking embodies. Furthermore, great sources of influence were old Hollywood actors, martial arts and singers/performers like Elvis Presley & MJ. 

Having trained and learned amongst multiple whackers over the past years, Nikos tries to create a safe space for expression and release of all kinds of identities while sharing his passion for Waacking. Join us walking through the mud!

See the recommendations for the event:

• Well-fitting sports shoes WITH LACES or surf boots. High or low shoes, both good, as long as it fits well!

• Too small? Then blisters. Shoes that are too big go off in the mud.

• No sandals, soldier's chests, hiking boots, etc.

• We don't rent shoes, you bring them yourself!

• Socks (against blisters and injuries).

• Shorts.

• Bring rain pants to put on in cool weather.

• Warm outer clothes ie. at least: T-shirt/sweater + two sweaters.

• And waterproof, so in good order RAIN JACKET.

• Also gloves in spring and autumn.

• In warm weather, these items can be put in the backpack, but they must be taken with you in all circumstances.

• In sunny weather sunscreen and possibly a hat.

• Backpack with spare sweater and plenty of food and drink (no alcohol, not even the last 6 hours before the start of the tour!).

• The dry clothes and shoes for after the trip can be left on the side.

• If necessary, take a walking stick or ski pole with you as support in the mud and in gullies.

We're collaborating with MindMint to bring you a workshop where we'll delve into photography basics: composition, exposure, focus, and more. Don't worry if you're new to this – no prior photography experience needed, and we're keeping it simple with tools like your phone.

- International mobility: tax status & social security status

- Different types of residence permits

- The permanent residence permit, and

- The Orientation year permit.

Marco van der Vinne is working in the immigration field since 2002 (at the IND and the UG). He is very enthusiastic to talk about these topics and will take time to answer your questions.

We offer walking routes in different distances (10, and 20km), so you can choose the group of your preference. During the tour you will pass various bulb fields that will be in full bloom!

At the start, each participant receives a route map on which the bulb fields are marked. There are food and drink options at a few places along the route.

Between 12-3 pm there is also extra entertainment on the walking route and between 3-4 pm at the finish by theater group Again.

At the finish everyone is welcomed again by our volunteers, tulips are for sale and food and drinks are available to end it all pleasantly, and.. every participant will get a memorial medal!!

Pannenkoeken - better known as Dutch pancakes – are a Dutch delicacy. Dutch pancakes can be described as a type of pancakes, which originated in the Netherlands. But is this a true story? Probably, nobody knows for sure. 

The history of ‘Hollandse Pannenkoeken’ or Dutch pancakes is quite the story to tell. The fun fact to share with you, is that Dutch pancakes are not from the Netherlands, but from China and Nepal. This recipe had buckwheat as the main ingredient and was first used in the 12th century. After some time, the Dutch started making their own pancake batter. This batter consisted of more flour and milk and the Dutchies also added eggs. So are you ready for a dutch pancake dinner after a workday with either your friends or colleagues?
