Hello PhD fellows,  

Karen Kelsy is a former tenured professor and Department Head with 15 years of experience teaching at the University of Oregon and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is now an academic career coach for 7 years.  Together with her productivity coach Kellee Weinhold, she is coming to Groningen especially to give two workshops for GOPHER !

These two workshops are :

-Hacking the Academic Job Market (from 9:00 to 10:30) : Close examination of all aspects of the job search, the real conditions of the job market and what search committees look for. You will learn how to build a competitive record and how to articulate that record in job documents and interviews.

-UNSTUCK: The Art of Productivity (from 11:00 to 12:30) : This 90-minute presentation focuses on four challenges facing academic writers : unclear expectations, work-life balance, negative self-talk and external comparisons.  Workshop participants can expect to design a writing plan and monitor progress by learning how to respond to these challenges and recognize and change their own negative behaviors, which get in the way of writing.

You can sign up for one or both workshop but be quick because spots are limited !

Fee : 5€ per workshop for PhDs, 7€ for others
