Whether you enjoy it, feel nervous, or simply dread it, public speaking is part of the PhD deal. More often than not you are asked to present your results to a group of people - at conferences, in lab meetings, or just your friends: everyone wants to know the elusive answer to that one question: “What on earth are you now actually doing all these years?“.
While it might generally be easy to describe your newest ground-breaking discoveries to your colleagues during your long discussions at work, a quick and simple summary, or a comprehensible overview of your PhD to a group of non-experts usually results in confused faces and more questions than answers.
Since we at Gopher know exactly how that feels, we happily invite you to join us in our “Get to the Point” public speaking workshop. Here, we will get to learn and practice how to efficiently describe your work in a way that everyone will understand. Join us to learn the elevator pitch that will end the endless conversations about your work, save you time for more important things, and maybe even help you win the 3 Minute Thesis competition!
Location: Harmony Building (Faculty of Arts), room 1312.0007.
This event is free of charge, but registration is required.
