If there is one sport the Dutch excel at, it is speed skating. Many Olympic and World Championship medals have been won by the skaters in orange, and almost every Dutch person knows who Sven Kramer or Ireen Wüst are - famous Dutch speed skaters. The best location to watch speed skating in the Netherlands is Thialf, a famous skating rink in Heerenveen (Friesland) of almost mythical proportions. Every year, the creme de la creme of both the Dutch and the international speed skating world gather in Thialf to duel it out on the ice. Some call Thialf the Wimbledon of speed skating, so we are in for a treat.
Gopher invites you to join us in visiting the ISU World Cup Finals, the final big event of the speed skating calendar, and to marvel in the magical ambiance in Thialf that is conjured up when about 12,500 (mostly Dutch) people go wild for their heroes. Trust us: this is something you would not want to miss!
Gopher bought a limited number of tickets for the races, and we work on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are interested in joining us, sign up as soon as possible, so we can arrange the details of our trip.

18:00 - Estimated end time of the races
20.30 - Estimated arrival time to Groningen
Fees
PhDs pay €17,50, non-PhDs pay €25
It is no longer possible to register for this event.
*Gopher bought an entrance ticket for you, which you can get with a discount. Unfortunately, we cannot cover transportation costs - we will therefore figure out our mode of transportation to Heerenveen together with all attendees (minivan, bus, or bus & train). This will be around €20 extra in total.

Cancellation policy and reimbursement of participation fee
If you are unable to attend an event (paid or free) you have signed up for, please notify the Gopher board beforehand.
Canceling your registration and reimbursing your paid participation fee cannot be done for this event. Please make sure you read carefully the registration/cancellation procedures in the confirmation email for each event sent by us.
