Research communication is becoming increasingly valued within the academic community. However, doing so in an effective and engaging manner can be a challenge! To that end, Gopher, in collaboration with the Pre-University Academy, organizes a pair of sessions in which you will receive individual training on how to communicate your research.
More specifically, in these training sessions we will focus on the basic structure of a successful public engagement activity, namely by focusing on some 'hard questions' - things you will need to figure out before you start constructing your public engagement event. These sessions will include many transferable skills that can be useful in developing your scientific career.
Session 1, on July 14 between 11am-12, will consist of a plenary online training session, in which the focus will be on theory and reflecting on some 'hard' questions: "What do you want to bring across in your public engagement activity?" This session will be approximately 60 minutes.
After this session, you will be asked to work on an assignment: using the theory from the plenary session, answer the questions provided and prepare a basic set up for a public engagement activity for your own research (field). This should take between 60-80 minutes.
In the second session, taking place on July 16 between 2-4pm, you will have a one-on-one online session with one of the project leaders from the Pre-University Academy to discuss your own plans for a public engagement session. This session will be approximately 60 minutes.
Meetings will take place via a to-be-determined online platform. This event is free of charge, but registration is required. Please ensure that you can attend both sessions if you decide to sign up!
Since we have reached the maximum capacity, it is no longer possible to sign up for this event
