#GopherGoesCreative, but this time in cyberspace. René Frank de Rooze is back with another workshop designed especially for PhD students, titled “Sublimation of a PhD research”. He writes:
“Artists often work with themes of their direct surroundings, be it a landscape, a model, or an idea derived from their philosophy on how art functions as private, social, or political concept. Several art movements through the centuries have also made use of the principle of a muse to make great and inspired works. Be it a female or male person, a certain bound or alignment produced a lot of creativity. The work of art does not have to be a literal representation of the muse, it can be sublimated in a general method, feeling or “Weltanschauung”.
It would be a challenge to work in this way with our PhD research as our muse. It can be the sublime, the ultimate of our imagination, the love, fight, vulnerability, or strength to be represented in our art work.
Chance. Research into color. Thesis into Composition. Method into structure. And see what kind of intriguing (abstracted?) work of art your Research will become…
A challenge to deal with your research in a creative way!”
