After the painting workshop “The non-representational beauty of Insects”, the visual artist René Frank de Rooze is back with an acrylic painting workshop. In this 2 hour workshop, you will get an introduction into the acrylic painting and practice yourself while the artist will provide you with individual feedback on your work. The theme of the workshop is: “The Landscape as Metapher” The artist, describes it as:
‘‘Painting a landscape allows us to express certain feelings, thoughts and ideals. Not the landscape itself is the message, but for example perfect harmony, solitude, divine experience, socially critical aspects or the indication of an Armageddon. With which image elements can one paint a landscape that is more than just a beautiful picture. A painterly and thematic quest that is broad in scope and methodology.
How can you picturize concepts such as loneliness, longing, fidelity, connectedness, identity in a scenic way? Not the realism, the landscape as just landscape applies, but the metaphor, adding certain ingredients by means of certain elements (a person, a lonely tree, a steep mountain ridge, a ravine, a waterfall, expressive colours, and the way of placing (composition) and painting (brushstroke or colour choice) etc. Give the landscape a sublimated meaning.’’
We will spend two hours researching out of the comfort zone. You need to have the basic painting skills.
You will also need the following materials:
Acrylic paint, different tubes with the colors you want to use.
Canvas board
Brushes
This online workshop is free of charge and it will take place via Zoom

Cancellation policy and reimbursement of participation fee
If you are unable to attend an event (paid or free) you have signed up for, please notify the Gopher board beforehand.
Unless otherwise indicated, canceling your registration and reimbursing your paid participation fee can be done until 24 hours before the start of the event. Please make sure you read carefully the registration/cancellation procedures in the confirmation email for each event sent by us.
