Claire Obscure, Light Festival. Claire Obscure is a way of using light and dark contrast in an extreme way in painting. Its effect is a high expression of drama and stories depicted get more meaning. Some famous artists using this principle in an intense way were Caravaggio and Rembrandt. This time of the year several religions celebrate, or use around solstice time, in different ways their light celebrations, Hindi: Diwali, Judaism: Hanukkah, Christians: Xmas, Persia: Nawrooz. And I assume many more religions that I am not aware of have a “light celebration”. Let us use the principle of light and dark in a painterly way. We can be inspired by religion, but also by Humans or Nature itself (the reason for the solstice and winter and summer times on earth). You can choose the subject yourself, I will help and direct you, in the use of light and dark in your work. A Winter Solstice Claire Obscure adventure in painting.
If the COVID-19 regulations don’t allow a physical meeting, we will organize an online workshop.
